Errigal College Announces Retirement of Two Long-Serving Staff Members – 2026

Errigal College, Letterkenny, recently marked the retirement of two valued members of staff, Margaret Russell Kelly and Margaret McAteer, in recognition of their long and dedicated service to the school community.

Margaret Russell Kelly joined Errigal College in 1989 and retires after 37 years of service to the school. A teacher of Business, Mathematics, CSPE and BFL, she also served on the Middle Leadership Team. Throughout her career, she made a huge contribution to teaching, pastoral care and leadership within the school, supporting students and contributing significantly to the wider life of the school community.

Margaret McAteer joined Errigal College in 2002 and retires after 24 years of service to the school. A teacher of Music and Religion, she also fulfilled the role of HSCL (Home School Community Liaison), where she played an important part in fostering strong links between home, school and the wider community.

Principal Mr Danny McFadden paid tribute to both retiring staff members:

Their professionalism, dedication and care for students have had a meaningful impact on our school community. We sincerely thank them for their years of service and wish them every happiness in their retirement.”
