School History

Errigal College has had a presence in the town of Letterkenny for over 100 years with the school dating back to 1914, when it was located on the Main Street.

Nurturing Global Citizens

Today Errigal College has over 500 students from over 30 nationalities and follows the Junior Cycle, Senior Cycle and LCA curriculum. Errigal College has a long history of providing quality education to the children and young people of Letterkenny, having originally opened in 1914. Today, the school has a broad curriculum and has an extensive provision of subjects at Leaving Certificate.

It also provides Further Education and Training (FET) options through its Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) provision.

Continued Expansion and Development of Facilities

Planning is continuing to progress on the expansion of the school campus to facilitate 750 students. Funding of €15 million has been granted which will see a new 6,600 square metre building. In the meantime, we have welcomed 10 new modular classrooms, 3 SET rooms and 2 office spaces to accommodate our ever growing numbers of students. This expansions allows us to meet the current needs of the school.

Broad Curriculum Offering

Errigal College offers a broad curriculum in line with meeting the needs of our students and the wider community. Recent additions to the curriculum include Coding, Computer Science and Physical Education. More information can be found in our Curriculum pages.

Further Education Provider

Errigal College is proud to have a tradition of vocational education and training with our college offering six areas of study leading to a qualification in either QQI Level 5 or 6:

  • Animal Care (Level 5)
  • Construction Technology (Level 5)
  • Inclusive Education & Practice (Level 6)
