Celebrating Excellence in Errigal College

Errigal College hosted its annual Prize Giving ceremonies last week, recognising the achievements of students across academics, sports, the arts, and community engagement. Both events were vibrant celebrations of students’ hard work, commitment and achievement, attended by parents, guardians, staff, and distinguished guests. The ceremonies reflected the school’s commitment to its core values of care, respect, equality, community and excellence in education, values that continue to shape the experience and success of students across the college.

The special guest at the Senior Prize Giving was Dr Lynn Ramsey, a Donegal native and Chief Executive Officer of Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). Addressing students, Dr Ramsey highlighted the importance of perseverance, ambition and embracing educational opportunities, encouraging students to believe in their potential and strive for excellence in all aspects of life.

At the Junior Prize Giving, the special guest was Karoline Sweeney, President of the Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce and Managing Partner at Castle Grove Country House. Ms Sweeney spoke about the importance of community, resilience and opportunity, inspiring students to work hard, support one another and take pride in their achievements.

Reflecting on the significance of the events, Principal Mr Danny McFadden remarked: “Our students continue to inspire us with their ambition, talent and kindness. It is a joy to recognise their achievements. These ceremonies reflect the spirit of our school and celebrate the caring, respectful and inclusive community we are proud to foster, alongside our commitment to excellence in education.”

As the academic year draws to a close, the Prize Giving ceremonies provided a fitting opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of students and recognise the dedication of staff, families and the wider school community in supporting their continued successes.
